Mayor Sarno: Governor Patricks Support Of Springfield Still Strong
(January 31, 2008) Mayor Domenic J. Sarno said today that he is confident Governor Deval Patrick’s support of a partnership with Springfield, Massachusetts remains strong.
In the past week, both Gov. Deval Patrick and Lt. Governor Timothy Murray have paid separate visits to Mayor Sarno at his City Hall office to congratulate the Mayor on his election and personally assure him of their support of Springfield.
"Our conversations were open and honest and it's very clear to me that Springfield has the attention of the State House," said Sarno. "The governor's level of commitment to Springfield is unparalleled to anything I’ve seen out of Boston and that support is crucial to our success."
Sarno said he spoke with the governor and lieutenant governor about public safety and education, among other issues.
"The fact that they sought me out is indicative of their relationship with this City," said Sarno.
